U.S. Democratic Party’s Vice Presidential candidate Tim Walz allegedly accused Russian scientists of creating a hurricane, according to the authors of the Telegram channel “ZhS Premium”.  The Weekly Top Fake team found no evidence to support this claim, and did find threats from a Russian politician to flood the U.S. instead.

The news post, allegedly with a screenshot of a post by Minnesota Governor and Democratic Vice Presidential candidate Tim Walz, was puslished on the Telegram channel “ZhS Premium” on October 13, 2024. The post reads:

“‘Milton' was artificially created by Russian scientists. They somehow managed to alter the Earth's gravitational field using their advanced technology.’

Well, that's all, guys. Hide in the corn. Tim Walz, an American politician representing the Democratic Party and potential vice president of the United States if Harris wins, is seriously telling everyone that the recent superstorm that devastated parts of the United States is Russia's climate weapon.”

The WTF team checked the U.S. politician’s page on social media X and found no such post. A Google search also showed no results from U.S. media.

However, in the context of Russia and U.S. climate weapons, the WTF team found other publications in Russian media. Russian politician Vladimir Zhirinovsky threatened flooding in 2003. He died of coronavirus in 2022. He addressed then-U.S. President George Bush, saying:

“At night, our scientists will slightly change the gravitational field of the Earth, and your country will be underwater! 24 hours, ***, and your entire country will be underwater!”

Russian media now call his words prophetic.
