On February 25, 2025, the Telegram channel ZhS Premium reported that U.S. President Donald Trump had fallen out of favor with Ukrainians, and now "even schoolchildren are taught to write his name in lowercase."
"They went even further in Odessa. It turns out there was a Trump statue there until recently. But it is no more—it has been demolished. Following in the footsteps of Catherine II and Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin monuments.
Sad news for Donald Fredovich also came from Zhytomyr. There, he was denied the primary distinction—he is no longer an honorary citizen of the city. Stripped of the title," wrote the authors of the Telegram channel, along with a purported photo of the demolished bust.
In reality, there was never a statue of Donald Trump in Odessa. The photo attached to the post was digitally altered using photo editing software. Ukrainian media discovered this six years ago. In February 2019, it was posted on Facebook by Odessa artist Vadim 'Bondero' Bondarenko. At the end of March that same year, he unveiled the aforementioned bust of Trump along with that of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. The mock ceremony took place on March 28, 2019.
"Initially, we made an art installation featuring a painted bust of Trump, and when we noticed people's interest, we decided to create actual busts of Trump and Un," the artist explained.
These art installations were displayed on Aleksandrovsky Avenue in Odessa for several hours. They were then supposed to be moved to the Museum of Contemporary Art.
The article about Donald Trump being stripped of his honorary citizenship in Zhytomyr was published on February 23, 2025 on the satirical website Panorama. The site publishes fictional news on current topics. The disclaimer at the bottom of its homepage clearly states that the articles on the site are grotesque parodies of real news.
The satirical article about the U.S. President reads: "The Zhytomyr City Council unanimously decided to revoke the honorary citizenship status of American businessman and politician Donald Trump. Now he will no longer be able to enjoy city privileges and is generally 'no longer an authority for the people of Zhytomyr,' according to the article. Trump was granted the honorary citizenship of Zhytomyr in November 2024, right after winning the presidential election. The same city council meeting, this honorary title was also revoked from Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. The city council members assembled a 'Presidential Task List' and sent it through email.”
